What the number is
Monthly listeners are the different people who played an artist at least once in the last 28 days, as Spotify counts them. Spotify ranks artists by it; the most-listened carry a world rank, and the top artists list is that ranking as this site holds it.
An artist this site already tracks is answered from its daily reading, dated, with the change since the day and the week before; one it does not is read when you check it, and joins the artists it tracks.
FAQ
How do I see an artist's monthly listeners on Spotify?
Spotify prints the figure on the artist's profile, under their name. Paste the profile's link here (Share → Copy link to artist) for the same figure with the artist's world rank, followers, top cities and the time it was read.
What are monthly listeners?
The number of different people who played an artist at least once in the last 28 days, as Spotify counts them. Someone who plays the artist every day of the month is one listener, so it measures reach, not plays.
Why does an artist have no world rank?
Spotify gives a world rank only to its most-listened artists, by monthly listeners. For an artist outside that ranking it reports none, and the checker shows none.
Can I track monthly listeners for many artists?
Yes. Through the API, GET /artist_overview returns one artist's figures and /artist_overview_batch up to 10 artists per call. Without code, the Spotify scraper on Apify reads a list of artists and exports their figures to CSV or JSON.
